How to Audition (click to expand)

  1. Submit a video solo audition using the application form below.

  2. Pay $35 audition fee via PayPal or Cash App

  3. Your virtual audition will include:

    • An audition application form​

    • Headshot (does not have to be professional)

    • An introduction (name, hometown, major, and school)

    • Solo video

  4. Deadline to submit your virtual audition is Friday, July 10, 2026, by 11:59 pm EST.

  5. No late submissions will be accepted

  6. An email will be sent to those selected for Round 2 on Sunday, July 12, 2026. Those selected for Round 2 will be sent details directly by email.

Video Submissions (click to expand)

  • Up to 1 minute routine of jazz technique, and should include turns, leaps/jumps, and flexibility.

  • The routine can be something that has been filmed previously and does NOT have to be your own choreography.

  • Make sure we can see your full body, that you are dancing alone (not in a group), and with good lighting.

  • Judges will evaluate videos based on accuracy of choreography, technical ability, poise, personality, and performance quality

  • Your video will need to include:

    • A brief introduction (name, hometown, major, school)​

    • up to 60-second solo routine

  • Technical requirements:

    • Film horizontally so that it is full screen when viewed.​

    • Once your video is ready, upload it to YouTube, Google Drive, or Dropbox. Please make sure your sharing settings allow anyone with the link to view the video, and that no password or additional permissions are required.

    • You will submit your video link in the designated field within the audition application.

​Audition Timeline

  • June 26, 2026 - Virtual Open Call applications available

  • July 10, 2026 - Virtual Open Call application closes at 11:59 pm

  • July 12, 2026 - Invitation to in-person Round 2 audition sent

  • August 6 - 9 2026  - In-person Round 2 audition 

  • August 10 - 19, 2026 - Mandatory band camp for those chosen for the team

Minimum Team Requirements

  • Must be an incoming freshman at Spelman College, Clark Atlanta University, or Morehouse College.

  • Must have at least a 2.8 GPA

  • Must be available for in-person auditions in Atlanta, Georgia, August 6-9, if selected for Round 2.

  • Must be available for mandatory band camp in Atlanta, Georgia, August 10-19, if selected as a member of the team.

  • Must be able to pay the first half of dues ($450) at the start of band camp if selected as a member of the team.

What to wear for the virtual video submission?

  • Attire: athletic/performance wear (any colors)

  • Refrain from wearing anything distracting or that could cause injury.

  • A performance-ready appearance is expected
